Direct cable burial uf cable underground feeder cable is specially designed and manufactured with properties that make it ideal for burial. Outside diameter is 125mm. Cable mark tape or tiels must be installed 150mm above the top of the apparatus this needs to have ssen branding on. The cable is less likely to be cut or disturbed by typical digging if it is this far below ground.

This cable should be buried at a depth of 24 inches. Mains cable for rural installations and cable runs up to 200 metres is 95 mm 2 four core aluminium with high impact sheathing. At 24 inches you can bury underground feeder cable using pvc conduit to 18 inches below ground only where the wire comes up. There are no statutory depths for underground cables as ground levels may have changed since the original installation and without the knowledge of the cable owner.

These depth reductions apply no matter which burial method is chosen. Under a driveway you may only need 12 inches of burial depth. Polypipe rigiduct outside diameter is 38mm. All cables and ducts for lv mains and 11kv circuits are to be installed by central networks or its agents.

The generally applicable depth is 12 inches or you can reduce it to 6 inches if you protect the cables with 2 inches of concrete. At 18 inches you can use thwn 2 conductors inside a continuous length of pvc conduit which protects the wire all the way through the trench to the house. To be used for single phase service cables only. A depth of 240mm below gardens and paths 100mm below roads and 650mm below agricultural land.

Conduits are required for installation in 2 inches of solid rock with concrete. However there is guidance.
